Throughout its history, the church has often been on the frontlines of providing mental health care. The remains true today, but science has greatly advanced what we know about mental health and how to care for the emotional and mental well-being of others. This resource, created by the American Psychiatric Association, is a guide for faith leaders to help us navigate the needs we encounter on the frontlines. For some, it will help freshen up on lessons from pastoral care 101 in seminary; for others, it will be an introduction to some of the tasks of basic mental health screening and care. For additional reflections and resources, consider Drew’s newsletter from mid-2022.
